(More customer reviews)I was looking for a bag just for the laptop and power source--something I could bring to and from school along with my backpack full of books. This case seemed to be the answer-2.5 inches. When I got it, I knew there was no way that it was 2.5 inches...It is more like 5.5 inches ( I got out the ruler, I know. The 2.5 inches refers to the main chamer that holds the laptop. When you add the outer pockets, it bulks up. However, it is still a very nice, sleek looking bag and I am planning on keeping it. I would recommend it to anyone who basically needs a laptop holder for one of the chunky 15.4 inch Dells out there...it's really nice, comfortable case.
