Samsonite L35 Notebook Case Review

(More customer reviews)When I was shopping for a notebook case that was not too bulky for everyday use. I only needed to bring my notebook and power cord, and an occasional file or two.
This Samsonite L35 laptop carrying case is exactly what I need for both everyday and travel use. I have it for each of my laptops. Not only does it carry all the necessary notebook requirements (power cable, ethernet cable, files, etc.), but everything else such as my wallet, phone, and sometimes a slim external hard drive.
The added padding protected my laptop from its demise after a few accidental mishaps. Thanks, Samsonite!!!
For my personal laptop, I have a Sony VAIO with a 13.3" screen, and it carries all of the necessities, which include a wireless optical mouse.
For my work laptop, I have an HP (Mobile Centrino) with a 15" screen, and it fits it perfectly! I carry more things, which include a wireless optic mouse, a wireless USB network adapter (to supplement/increase the gain of the internal wireless card on my notebook), and a CD wallet case. The other great thing about this case is the "flap" that can fit onto my carry-on luggage pull handle. If one didn't know what this was for, it can be easily mistaken for an external compartment with a "design flaw" of having the bottom of the pocket open. I am a professor at a medical university, and I travel at least once a month to give lectures in Universities and Scientific Conferences, so this is a definitely a big design advantage for travelers.
Conclusion: It is small enough to be conveniently used for everything I need it for, yet big enough to carry everything that I need.
Because the Samsonite L35 is doing its job as a notebook carrying case, I gave it 5 stars. I use the L35 when I just need to carry the notebook and the power cord. I also have the Samsonite XT530, which can hold more things, such as files and cables and peripherals portable drives. The XT530 is what I use when I need to bring more stuff.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this portfolio to hold my laptop secure and it does do the job. Made of leather, it is easy to carry and looks sharp. It comes with a shoulder strap wide enough for comfort and it is adjustable. Plenty of room for files and other stuff, and I can carry at least one textbook in the pouch. The computer section has room for the laptop, and any accessories,i.e. the power cord etc. There are nice little containers for small stuff also. Zippers are heavy-duty and well made. All in all, a very nice portfolio. I would recommend it for any traveler.

(More customer reviews)I've a Dell Inspiron 8200, with 15" LCD. The laptop fits quite nicely in the main space. However, don't expect the AC adapter will fit along with the laptop, there isn't much room left.
You may find this info useful: The inside Width x Length x Depth for laptop space is 15.3" x 11.2" x 2.5"
the thickness of the whole bag is about 6"
There're a lot of small compartments inside the bag, but i found them not very useful. All in all, i still like this bag =)

Well-designed, sturdy and light ... perfect for the office as well as school. Lots of pockets without being gimmicky, ergonomics were definitely a major consideration in product development. It's so much more comfortable than my pricier laptop case and so much more versatile, too. Sumdex Large Expandable Brief for Notebooks up to 17 Inches (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)After 3 months of use, this computer case is turning out to be not very durable. The stitching on the shoulder strap started coming apart, and I had to replace with one from an old computer case that I had.
The other negative is that the nylon material is not very thick or strong, so the case would sag unless it's full. You need the contents to hold the bag in shape instead of the other way around. Paperwork would come out curled or wrinkled at the corners.
I liked the bag at the beginning as it was able to carry a 17" laptop with room to spare and it looked nice for the price, but unfortunately it didn't stay that way for long.

CalPak First Impression Notebook Computer Briefcase Review

(More customer reviews)Laptop "Briefcase" was a very apt description for this bag. It has 4 main zippered compartments, one clearly for a laptop as it is padded and unzips around past the bottom cornors to make it easy to put a laptop in or take it out, there is also a divider for papers and a velcro strap to keep your porable secure.
Then the next is for files, papers, whatever, could even fit a folded, light, change of clothes (but that would really be pushing it), then comes the "junk" compartment, every good case needs on, there are 3 pockets, one for a phone, another for a PDA perhaps, and a third for a big MP3 player, of course any of the three can be used for anything, I keep my passport and check book in two of them usually. It also has pen holders, another nice feature so you don't need to dig for pen.
Inside the "junk" section that also fits papers, is a pseudo-hidden inside zipper pocket, not sure what I would use that for, likely losing something I really need, but actually perhaps a good place to keep anything paper you don't want easily seen, like contact lists.
The final is a small front pocket, ideal for again, more loose stuff, but perfect for a wallet, tickets, and all your pocket junk you need in the bag for going through the airport or other situations where you need the stuff handy but don't want it in your pocket.
It seems every well built, lots of heavy sticking, solid zippers with removable pull cords. semi-stiff ribs for keep the shape, very thick botom material. The only sort of out of place thing on the bad is where ever important part is metal, the "D-Rings" for the strap holder are plastic, pretty beefy plactic, but not metal, so I am saving the ones from my old bag just in case one of these breaks, but most bags I looked at have plastic there now, so no points off.
I travel a lot and even when I don't I carry my bag to work everyday and like to get 5 or so years out of one, this one looks like it is up for the job. The padded strap that came with it was one of the best I have ever got with a bad, but I am hooked on those "CaseCrown Comfort Air Cell Padded Netbook Notebook Briefcase Bag Shoulder Strap", you can even get them here on Amazon.
I picked one over 5 years ago and while it is still going strong, all I can say is once you get one and if you carry a med-heavy bag a lot, you will be wondering why you had not got one years ago, one of the very few travel gadgets that work.
Last note, even with all of this the bag empty is pretty light, not cheap light, but good light.

Targus Zip-Thru Traditional Case for 16 Inch Laptops TBC023US (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)My primary concern when buying a laptop bag or case is that it protect the laptop. Second, that it doesn't look like 'thief bate.' This Targus bag meets both of those criteria. It's a nice subdued looking bag, modern enough with clean lines, but not glamorous in a way that will attract attention. It's a professional bag, with adequate storage options for your peripherals (mouse, charger, pens, paper, etc). The quality of the build is better than average if not perfect. I would have liked a heavier gauge zipper, since those always seem to be the first thing to go on the bags I've owned in the past. I also would have liked a thicker, longer shoulder pad. The attached pad is barely adequate for a large man.
The storage compartments are laid out logically and the bag clam-shells to allow easy security check pass through at the airport.
Overall I'm quite pleased with the bag, especially since it matches the color of my new Dell Studio 15 notebook.
For the price, this is a great option.
*****UPDATE 02/26/2010*****
The foam padded shoulder strap of the bag failed a few weeks ago. The stitching along one seam came out and with it the interior foam. I contacted Targus through their web-page to see about getting a replacement. They contacted me back within hours, and sent me a shipping notice for the replacement strap the next day. The new strap arrived and is actually better than the original (leather pad vs. vinyl). I am extremely impressed with both the promptness of Targus' communication and with the ease of requesting support through their webpage. I was expecting a headache to get a new shoulder strap and instead it was remarkably easy. I'll be giving them more business in the future knowing that: A. they stand behind their products, and B. they are very quick in assisting the customer. Well done Targus!

Toshiba Ballistic Nylon - carrying case ( PA1389U-1NCS ) Review

(More customer reviews)I've owned this carrying case for three months now, and I really like it. First, it's functional w/o a lot of bulk; the last thing I wanted was a huge tote bag kind of thing. I mean, they have their uses, but I was looking for a laptop case, not a gigantic piece of luggage. This case will hold your laptop & accessories just fine, and a few personal items too. The balistic nylon construction is A-1 top notch and provides adequate protection from dings. The padded shoulder strap is comfortable, as are the thick padded carry handles. There are plenty of pockets, and even internal pockets/dividers within the two larger pockets. There is one drawback to this case, however. When I bought it, I thought it had more room than I would _ever_ need or use; but it seems to have filled up rather quickly, and things are a bit cramped in there right now. Just to give you an idea of its capacity, mine currently has in it: 15.4" laptop (and that's as big as will fit in it, BTW), AC power adapter, cooler fan, web cam, headset w/mic, mouse, USB hub, card reader, USB flash drives in protective case, external hard drive in protective case, wireless-N adaptor, my prescription glasses, a couple backup memory modules (in clamshell cases), and other misc items like cables, CDs, documentation, etc. I could still squeeze in a little more, but not much; and really, it's the headset that's the problem (those dang ear muff pieces that don't fold). Remove the headset and the usable space increases significantly. Even with the headset, however, everything still fits into a compact portable package. If I was travelling, I could put tickets & other paperwork into the document pouch on the backside, too, plus it has a strap to slide over your suitcase's pull handle. It's a nice case. Grab one while you can, because it looks like Toshiba might have discontinued the item, because it's no longer available on the Toshiba Direct website at the time of this review.

BUT BACK ON TRACK IT WAS SITTING BY MY FRONT DOOR IN THIS HUGE BOX ABOUT THE SIZE BOX YOU WOULD PACKAGE A MACBOOK AND SEND IT THROUGH THE MAIL IN. I OPENED THE BOX AND IT HAD THE AIR FILLED BUBBLE THINGS ON TOP TO PROTECT IT. THE ITEM WAS WELL PACKAGED I THINK OVER PACKAGED BUT THAT PERFECTLY FINE. THE QUALITY IS WELL WORTH MY 25 BUCKS. YOU KNOW HOW YOU CAN PINCH AND FEEL YOUR FINGER ON THE OTHER SIDE OF SOME SLEEVES FABRICS...WELL NOT ON THIS THIS MAtERIAL IS VERY GOOOOD I LOVE IT IS NOT TO THICK NOT TOO THIN JUST RIGHT. ITS LIKE ON THE INSIDE THERE IS A GEL . THE FEEL REMINDS ME OF THE COOSHiNS OFFICES HAVE AT THE DESK FOR THE WRIST ON THE KEYBOARD AND MOUSE AREA AND YOU KINDA PLAY WITH THE SMOuSHIE MATERIAL BECAUSE NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU PINCH IT...IT PUSHES BACK AND FEELS REALLY GOOD.
