I love the backpack, and how everything fits into it. It was excellent rolling around the streets of NYC. My only problem was that it said it was airline sized, but the wheel base kept it from fitting in the overhead, or easily under the seat.

Very confortable shoulder straps and a large main compartment. Even loaded with 20 pounds of gear was very gentle on the shoulders and back.
Holds a 17'' laptop and much more. If totally loaded won't fit under a seat in a plane.
Great look, low profile backpack (no metal handle like other Victorinox backpacks).
I am very satisfied with my purchase!

The North Face Borealis Computer Backpack Review

The North Face Borealis Computer Backpack
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The title of this review states the three things I was looking for in a new backpack--and three things the Borealis receives high, if not perfect marks in. If you have the same things in mind, this backpack deserves a spot on your shoulders.
North Face is known for its durable products, either because (A they run a swift and deceptive marketing campaign, or (B their products really do hold up. I would guess the latter. I've only had the Borealis for five or six hours, but it's not hard to see the attention to detail the company gave this model. Everything from the tightly-woven nylon (the weave density is extremely high) to the double-stitched zippers would imply that this backpack can last a while.
But no backpack is worth buying unless it has sufficient room in the user's eye. I wanted something simple enough for a trip into D.C, yet roomy enough to fit my binders and schoolbooks--and accommodate everything I would pack for a 3-day vacation. As a test, I stuffed 4 pairs of boxers, 2 pairs of socks, 3 pairs of shorts and 4 long and short shirts into the backpack's main compartment. Everything fit, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it "roomy." Next, I removed the clothing and stuffed Webster's Third New International Dictionary (12.5 pounds and 4 inches thick) into the main compartment, then added two textbooks in front of it. There was enough space over for a laptop and assorted office supplies, a welcome surprise.
Nevertheless, this backpack's storage capacity will seem wanting outside of a traditional school or afternoon trip environment. An additional piece of luggage will probably be necessary for a longer vacation.
On top of what I mentioned earlier, the Borealis also does a fine job in the organization category. The laptop compartment, often just a sleeve or thin-walled slot in other "computer" backpacks, is padded on three sides (the top excepted) and locked in with a plastic buckle. This feature was enough for me to select the North Face item over the REI Urban Traveler, an excellent backpack in its own right. Those who don't carry around their computer will still find much to appreciate in the middle-zipper organizer pocket, though it offers no zippered slots for valuables. Again, though, I can't give the backpack an "excellent" score when it comes to storage choices. Having a dedicated laptop compartment (accessible from the outside with a zipper) or offering more zipped pockets might have done the job, but as it is, gadget hounds and everyday pack rats might purchase the item a little disappointed. No, this is not a gushing five star review. The North Face backpack has its flaws to go along with its successes. But I would doubt that many "five star" backpacks can match the durability and flexibility of this model, even if the size leaves something to be desired.

Kensington Contour Traveler Notebook Backpack with Lumbar Support K62432US Review

Kensington Contour Traveler Notebook Backpack with Lumbar Support K62432US
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I received this bag in late January, and have used it three times since then. Unfortunately, while I like the look and overall design of the bag, there is a substantial design defect with respect to the back straps. The lower anchor points for both straps have torn completely away. The straps are sewn into material that could never be expected to support the weight of a bag carrying any normal laptop, destroying the utility of what might have been a rather nice bag.

Victorinox Swiss Army Architecture 2.0 Big Ben Laptop Pack Review

Victorinox Swiss Army Architecture 2.0 Big Ben Laptop Pack
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I travel a lot for work, I bounce between two offices when I'm not traveling, and I always have at least one laptop with me (and frequently two, plus a couple external drives and a kit of cables and adapters not to mention all the usual stuff: phone, ipod, book, knitting project, notebook, toiletries, travel mug, sometimes cameras and video gear). I got this backpack a few months ago, and it's been a major upgrade in terms of keeping my stuff organized. Though it's not designed for cameras per se, it's padded enough that I'm fine letting my consumer-level video camera kick around (pros would NOT want that, tho). There are enough but not too many pockets, I can easily carry 2 laptops when I need to, and could even squeeze in a change of clothes for an overnight trip. It's quite comfortable to carry, too, and it's not so sporty and macho that it looks dorky on a woman in a work environment. The only complaint I have (and it is annoying) is that it tips forward rather than sitting flat when you plunk it on the floor.

The backpack looks and feel a lot better than the picture on Amazon. Two large compartments with an inside pocket with velcro flap for a laptop, 1 small front pocket, and 2 smaller side pockets. Overall it's an excellent backpack for traveler, plus it's a Samsonite. I would recommend it to anyone.

I bought this backpack for school and upon receipt realized that, yes, it is sturdy and well built for carrying a leptop, but not large enough to carry any books with the laptop. I like the bag overall and have resorted to carrying my books in my arms instead of ina bag. If you don't have a need to carry around much else than your laptop, a folder, and a notebook, this bag is perfect. If you need to carry your books around keep searching.

Korchmar Vertical Top Zip Computer Case Review

Korchmar Vertical Top Zip Computer Case
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I travel about 75% of my time through the year. I'm in and out of Domestic and International airports many times and many times crashing on the airport floor and yes using this bag as a pillow(for obvious reasons). I state this to give you a sense of how much this bag gets used. I usually go through bags every 2 years for various reasons; bored, poor quality, broken. I've had them all TUMI, Brenthaven, Samsonite, Targus... All good quality. But why five stars for Korchmar. I rarely give five stars. Every case you buy will have some problem either early or in the future. The weighing factor in selecting a product is always customer service. That is why the five stars. I must say they have one of the best customer service departments I've had the pleasure of receiving service. I first had a problem with the front flap buckles. Pulling my bag from under the seat of the plane always dislodge at least one of these buckles. I did some research and discovered this was a defect and contacted Korchmar. Within hours, I received a response to my email. I had to send a picture of the buckle. Within a week of receiving my email, my buckles arrived. No more issues. Then last week the buckle on the strap broke. Again sent an email with a picture and within hours received a response stating that my new strap was on its way upon confirmation of mailing address. This is why I give this product five stars...
BTW: My dog chewed the canvas flaps on the side pockets. I had a leather smith custom build a new leather flap for both sides. Still makes the bag look great. I've had people on the plane compliment me on the bag and ask who makes the bag.

SwissGear Laptop Backpack - Blue/ Silver Review

SwissGear Laptop Backpack - Blue/ Silver
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Basic run-down... This backpack is well-constructed, very sturdy, and comfortable to use. I like cool colors, so I find the color scheme attractive and sufficiently low-key. The straps are wide near the top and impressively padded. Even when loaded to capacity (which is deceptively large-- this backpack is huge!), it exerts minimal pressure on my shoulders. The back is also heavily padded and purportedly better ventilated, but it doesn't mean you won't sweat like crazy on a hot, humid day. (: Despite the daily abuse I inflict upon it, the backpack shows very little wear.
And... Swiss Gear does NOT advertise this as waterproof or -resistant, and even goes as far to say "spot-cleaning only." But between you and me... (: I've gotten caught in the rain--and I'm talking 100% drenched to the skin-- several times. The backpack is indeed quite water-resistant. The top edges of my notebooks in the main zipper got a bit damp, as did the objects in the frontmost pocket, but everything else (including my computer) stayed relatively safe and dry.
As a college student, I carry my new lightweight laptop everywhere I go-- it's my baby. (: So I wanted to keep it safe from spiral-bound books and other scary scratchy things. This backpack has a laptop pouch in the main compartment plenty big enough for my 13" computer. There's a velcro strap for added security. I never use it, however, as my computer stays put and is still in perfect condition. I also love the included key fob. I added it to my keychain, and now I always know where my keys are-- no digging through a stuffed bag. (: The actual clip mechanism also shows no sign of wear-- my bike lock's key is nearly destroyed, but the backpack clip looks perfect. (Another testament to Swiss Gear's quality. They don't cut corners anywhere!)
I also carry a menagerie of pens, pencils, and highlighters in the organizer pocket. My only complaint here is that writing utensils don't like to stay in their holders unless they're clipped in. As a result, my pens and pencils tend to collect in the largest pocket, and I have to dig around for the one I need. It helps to put two pens in the same holder, but again, they eventually migrate to the big pocket. (: Another thing I like is the "hidden" zipper compartment on the front of the backpack. In theory, it's a great place to put things like your wallet, checkbook, etc. to hide them from pickpockets, but if your entire backpack is stolen, it's safe to assume you won't see these things again. (: So this is a pretty neutral feature, I suppose.
This backpack has two drawstring-style drink holders. I usually carry a large, top-heavy container. I'm paranoid and frequently check to make sure I've still got it, but I have yet to see it fall out. As an extra precaution, I'd pull the drawstring tight. (:
And now... The bad. I can only think of a quote from A Very Potter Musical:
"You know who I think is the ugliest girl in school? That Hermione Granger. You know what I'd give her on a scale of 1 to 10-- where 1 would be the ugliest and 10 is pretty? I would give her... an 8. ...8.5... NOT over a 9.8. Because there is always room for improvement."
1) The backpack is really front-heavy when sitting on the ground. If I don't prop it up against something, it will invariably fall over and usually toss my bottle from the drinkholder for good measure.
2) If I have a cold drink in the drinkholder, it will soak the bottom corner of the backpack with condensation. The drinkholders could be better insulated, if only to prevent this.
3) The pen/pencil holders could be longer or more elastic, so that they have more of a grip.
And that's about it! I was a little leery of the price tag when I bought this backpack, but I definitely don't regret it. This is a incredibly high-quality product worth every penny. I don't think you'll be sorry. (:
P.S.: Apologies if this isn't as coherent as it could be; I tried to edit, but you know.. This is one of my no-brain days. (;

PEGASUS from SwissGear by Wenger Computer Backpack Review

PEGASUS from SwissGear by Wenger Computer Backpack
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This bag is almost perfect. It has some rigidity to it so it can stand on its own which is helpful when you put it down. I sometimes have to carry 2 laptops and it does so perfectly (15.4" and 17"). The size is perfect, not like I'm going to trek over into the Amazon but can provide more than ample room for all sorts of activites/travel. The trend is towards too many compartments and sub-compartments/pockets, but once you get used to it, finding things become very easy. The Zippers work well, the padding and straps are excellent, and as a professional, this bag has a very high-tech, quality professional look to it. Weight is not feathery but is reasonable given its semi-rigid structure and excellent protection. The outer top loop has a nice feel and detail to it when you to lift it up by the loop. Its very balanced on my shoulders and reduces fatigue = important since I travel a lot by air and by motorcycle with it.
My single complaint is that it does not have a lower band or strap which allows it to securely wraparound a roll-on luggage's handle - useful when airporting around.
I probably need a life, but this bag has improved the quality of it immensely. The other excellent bags are the Synergy (same price) or the Maxuum (slightly cheaper), both by Swissgear but I don't think anyone makes a better functional or aesthetic bag than the Wegner Swissgear folks!

I bought this pack over a year ago on Amazon for $20 (last one in stock). It has held up well and shows no sign of slowing down. I carry my laptop plus files and literature with me. I has plenty of pockets for Water, Ipods, keys, business cards, pens, whatever you wish to carry. At the time, I would not have paid over $50 for this pack, but even at that price it is worth it in my opinion.

Samsonite Executive Backpack, Black Review

Samsonite Executive Backpack, Black
Average Reviews:

This pack is awesome. It's exactly as it's billed - an executive backpack. it's not the kind of saggy-A$$ backpack that teenagers and college kids carry around and is black, so it goes well with workday attire. it's got space for a good size laptop, umbrella and plenty of nooks and crannies. it's evey got this very cool caribiner to clip your keys, ID, metro pass or whatever. it's well worth the money and it wasn't that much money anyway. It's not too wide, hugs close to the body and wears very well on the shoulders. Much more comfortable than any pack i've had before.
