(More customer reviews)This luggage is sold under two brand names, both the same company: International Traveler or Landor & Hawa. I read about this luggage on the web and purchased online. I travel several times monthly over several states in my work, and own several sizes and types of luggage.
When this luggage was introduced in Europe apparently it quickly became the best seller there. When examining the case its qualities are quite apparent. Look at the weight above; when I received mine the cardboard shipping box weighed as much as the bag! I own a couple of bags also in this extra-large size and the lightest weighs 13 lb, more than twice what this one does. This bag has a Fiberglas framework covered with a durable nylon fabric. There is a separate lightweight gray interior liner. The top handle and the retractable transport handle are lightweight aluminum.
Those who like a bunch of interior compartments will be disappointed here; it is basically a large space with straps for securing articles. I travel with several packing cubes and a folder for suits and clothing, and this works perfectly for me. I put my toiletry case in the bottom of the case (the wheeled end).
Obviously this bag can't be carried on planes-it must be checked. Obviously, also, this bag couldn't be expected to protect fragile items as well as a much heavier, hardsided case. If I am traveling with delicate items, I have other cases better suited. However, for clothing, etc., this wouldn't be a problem at all. I have had no damage from car or plane trips with the black case I have, though I am not abusive myself. The wheels seem durable enough for the use I have put them through.
I see the price has dropped dramatically since I purchased mine some time back. At the above price this is a terrific buy. I wonder whether Americans are harder on their luggage, possibly impacting sales. As other regular travelers know, purchasing one of these extra-large bags can push weights above 50 pounds easily when full. As this bag is best suited to filling with clothing/shoes for an extended trip, the ultra light weight means more can be packed! I certainly haven't exceeded the limit with mine.
If someone needs one of these bags for extended travel to house clothing and/or shoes, this brand would make a fine companion. However, if hiking boots, sports equipment, and other such items need to travel, a heavier, and heavier-duty bag or duffel would be a better choice.
