Eagle Creek Travel Gear OVERLAND Review

Eagle Creek Travel Gear OVERLAND
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a great looking bag, inside and out. The right size for overhead bins, good pockets, well made with substantial materials.
BUT...I had to return the bag because of the handles. The handles are thin and not padded, which can be uncomfortable when carrying a fully loaded bag. Most competing bags have padded handles. The backstraps are fine, but you need the flexibility to grab a bag from any side and carry comfortably.
I love Eagle Creek products but this one let me down, it could be a excellent bag if they fix the handles.
I like the Go Lite or (surprise to me) the LL Bean carryon which I used in Europe for 3 weeks.

Kiva 26 Inch Rolling Big Mouth Duffel Review

Kiva 26 Inch Rolling Big Mouth Duffel
Average Reviews:

We recently took a trip to Greece and decided this would be a perfect suitcase due to it being lightweight. When we arrived, two of the ribs that give it shape were broken. I assume it was due to being crushed under other luggage on the plane. Otherwise it was very usable. The big mouth made it easy to get into and find things. I do not recommend it for air travel. We were very disappointed the rib support system was not more durable.

read the reviews and was skeptical but bought it anyway as trust the patagonia name --- disappointed as other reviewers noted is too small, too many silly compartments that really don't work thus poorly designed and above all way over priced --- i ended up getting a swiss gear carry on at target with a handy laptop compartment and seems extremely durable and is well designed for $100

Eagle Creek Travel Gear QUIRK Review

I love this backpack. The following are the key design features:
* Top loading, with a cinch close -- similar to a large backpacking bag. This is great, for example, on an airplane since you access your stuff from the top, and don't lose anything. In fact, my favorite feature is that I feel safer that I will not lose objects from the bag. The side effect of this is that the backpack never fully opens.
* Side computer slot. Super convenient for a laptop/tablet.
It also has a variety of other little zip areas, pouches, which you can read in the specs.

Mandarina Duck Work Collection 21-Inch Upright Carry-On Review

Mandarina Duck Work Collection 21-Inch Upright Carry-On
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was in the market for a new piece of carry-on luggage to match my new job, and I was pretty set on getting Mandarina Duck. Having bought a carry-on piece from them almost ten years ago in Italy, I was hooked on their design and functionality. Since I gave the suitcase away to my sister, I've been using a suitcase that I bought at the Muji store in Tokyo quite inexpensively which, while it has served me well, is looking pretty beat up.
When the shipment came, it was even blue color was even prettier in person-- a deep cornflower blue-- and the piece looks unique (unlike the army of black suitcases at the airport). I took it on a ten-day business trip, and I have a few criticisms:
1. It's not exactly light
2. There is a bit of wasted packing space on the inside; the retractable handle mechanism takes up quite a bit of space
3. It could really use an external side handle so that you have the option of carrying from the other side (being rather short, I barely clear the floor when using the top handle to carry)
4. The worst offense: it is designed in such a way that even if you're not loading up the front pockets, the suitcase has a tendency to tip forward! And when you do take advantage of the front pockets (since the inside of the suitcase isn't exactly roomy)-- forget about it.
Pros:
1. Design and color is nice; does not look like the typical, characterless black suitcase.
2. The front pockets are thoughtfully designed (lots of pockets within pockets within pockets...)
Verdict: I appreciate my Muji that much more! I wish the Mandarina Duck had the functionality of the Muji (super light, roomy considering the external dimensions, side handle, doesn't tip over!), and kind of wish I could return it... I would be reasonably happy with it if it just didn't tip over all the time. Given the price, I suggest looking for a better-designed suitcase.

The curved bit around the nose is uncomfortable.

Rick Steves Civita Shoulder Bag Review

Rick Steves Civita Shoulder Bag
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The idea of this bag is great. Lightweight material, so it packs flat and doesn't add to the weight you're carrying. Three pockets for some organization, but it's mostly one big, no-frills compartment to stuff with whatever. It's big enough for a netbook or books, or to stuff a coat into. The side pockets for drink bottles are a nice bonus.
However, after two weeks it's absolutely falling apart. The attachment points where the strap clips onto the bag failed - one came off entirely, and the other is hanging by a thread. Some of the seams are also visibly stretched and on the verge of failing.
Here's what I had in it when it failed (this is the heaviest weight I had in it the whole time): cell phone, compact camera, wallet, keys, two craft books (one hardcover, one softcover, each around 200 pages). I'd estimate the total load to be around 10 pounds.
If you're just looking for something to shove a jacket in, this could be an okay bag. But if you want to carry even a moderate load, keep looking.

Skyway 22 Inch Vertical Case Review

Skyway 22 Inch Vertical Case
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just received this bag today, so my observations are early and untested. I will update after having a chance to use this bag.
I frequently travel on short business trips, just about every week, so I need a carry-on that is convenient to drag through airports and up and down hotel parking lots. I have wanted to try a spinner for a while now since they seem like less weight pulling behind you and this would make those trips just a bit more comfortable.
This bag looks great from a distance. I like the handle on top, it retracts so is almost flush when not in use, also has metal-looking attachments that class it up a bit. The look of the bag is very sleek, the main clothes compartment has a slim look to it, but additional pockets attached to the outside provide more storage for miscellaneous items. The exterior pocket on top, with the logo, seems to be the right size for a quart-sized baggie full of 3oz. or less toiletries.
It looks much thinner and compact than my other carry-on, a trashed "swiss army" brand of bag. However, when I closely compared the two, the Skyway is actually a little taller, wider and the same depth. Pretty cool that it will hold as much stuff but doesn't look like a huge bag - will help with the overly ambitious check-in agents who used to pull me aside thinking my bag was too big to fit in the overhead compartment. I used to have to demonstrate that my bag fit the dimensions.
My main complaints:
1. Looking up close, the nylon appears to be thin and is stretched improperly over the frame, which on my bag causes a few large wrinkles on top. This seems to be just a cosmetic issue, hopefully will not cause future problems with tearing. I would prefer to have bag that looks like new when I haven't even used it yet, but it's not enough for me to go through the hassle of exchanging for a different bag.
2. As you can see from the pictures the main compartment, where the wheels are attached, is fairly slim compared to overall bag storage space. This means the wheels don't have a deep base to keep the bag stable standing up.
Compared to my older bag, this Skyway seems to easily tip over when empty. If I just push it forward a tiny bit, the bag falls over. When full, I think this would be just as much of a problem, possibly more so if the weight is not distributed well.
Time will tell, but I will practice using it in the house for the next week or two just in case I need to return it due to the potential tipping issue.

This bag has traveled many, many miles with me, all across the globe, and I really can't say enough good things about it. It's just the right size to use for a short trip; I've packed up to 5 days worth of clothes and sundries in it. It holds my laptop securely while still making it easy to get it in and out for security, it fits neatly in overhead compartments, and the backpack feature makes it easy to cart around. The bag is very well made, with solid zippers and components and a very durable fabric. Mine has had very heavy use and still looks fresh. Love this bag!

I was hoping to love this backpack as well as my old one. But, sad to say, the very first day at the airport, my husband picked it up by the top strap and it ripped. I really liked the padded compartment for my ipad and ereader. It wasn't over loaded with items although it is definitely smaller than I expected. Still I only paid less than $30 so I'll just attempt to mend it. I must say it felt great on, very well balanced with comfortable straps.

I use this cart to walk long distances with my laptop bag. The straps are a little fiddly and difficult to hook, so I don't use them. It's lightweight and, aside from the straps, easy to use, and sturdy enough for schlepping +/- 15 lbs. I haven't tested it with more weight than that.
I wish the straps were easier to use, but other than that, this is working well for what I wanted it to do, and my shoulders are grateful.
