(More customer reviews)So, 18 months after having a baby, I am still on the hunt for the perfect diaper bag. My most recent trial, the (Bumkins Keith Haring Grande Diaper Bag, Heart, was close, but no cigar, and I ended up returning it. I have also tried the Skip Hop Dash Deluxe Uptown Stripe, an Eddie Bauer bag, and something from eBags. They all have their good and bad points...so when I saw this kristi g bag on a baby deals site for a great price, I had to try it. A more expensive bag has to be better, right?
PROS:
1. On first glance it's very pretty and does not look like a diaper bag.
2. It seems to be fairly well made with double row stitching and heavy duty grommets (for the handles). See photo.
3. The shoulder straps are a perfect length.
4. It has stroller straps.
5. I do like the two end pockets which will be used for sippy cups or a place to drop my phone or keys.
6. I like the flat bottom and the metal feet.
CONS:
1. I don't love the big silver 'g' logo on the side--I understand a logo is usually on a product, but it's SO big it looks like it should be your personal initial or something (see photo comparison to iPhone).
2. It could use more internal pockets--it only has three small sewn (not elasticized) pockets on one side (see photo) and one zippered pocket about half the length of the bag. There is plenty of room for more pockets along the outside, and this bag could have benefited from a few more (more pockets are a good thing). I think you could use one of those pocketed purse-to-purse organizers (like QVC's Pursfection Portable Purse Organizer with 9 Pockets) to better use the open space.
NEITHER PRO NOR CON:
1. The pattern I bought (the Geisha Garden) does look more feminine than my other bags, so hubby might not appreciate having to carry it, but honestly (as I've mentioned in other reviews), I'm the one carrying it 95% of the time, so he can deal with it. :)
2. I am intrigued by the EZ Wipe Pouch (a zippered pocket on the very outside of the bag which allows you access to wipes without having to dig through the bag), and will report back in a few weeks to let you know if the wipes do, indeed, stay moist. I was hoping I could just put my entire 70-wipe pop-up packet in there, but it says 25 wipes are recommended.
3. The bag just has one magnetic snap in the middle. Better than nothing, but not the bag for you if you want to be able to fully close it.
4. There is no across-the-body strap, which is how I usually wear a diaper bag. BUT, since it looks more like a purse, I think I can live with that.
I will report back (edit my review) once I've used the bag in the real world...but for now I give it four stars.
EDITED 5/7/2011: The EZ Wipe Pouch is cool but too much trouble for what it's worth. But the purse is still nice otherwise.
