(More customer reviews)I gave this pack 5 stars considering its price, appearance, and my use for it (as a briefcase substitute). There are better packs, but at higher prices and in larger sizes than I wanted. I would describe the pack as midsize for a daypack. There are smaller packs, larger packs, and much larger packs out there.
I have the brown version, which at times looks more olive green, but with light brown contrast webbing and cords. The canvas gives it a rugged-look, but with a certain style, although I think the Olympia logo on front detracts from the rugged look. No problem - I covered it with a subdued decorative patch.
There are 3 compartments. The smaller front section can hold 2-3 thick paperback books; the middle section can hold a large textbook, but is more spacious with smaller items, and also has pencil slots, an open pocket, and a clip for keys; and the back section is deeper, can hold my older 14-inch laptop tightly but is perfect with my 13-inch VAIO, and has a zippered pocket slightly smaller than the dimensions of a paperback book. It's not designed as a laptop bag, so there is no extra padding on the bottom.
The padded shoulder straps and back are comfortable. I usually sling it over one shoulder, but it's also comfortable over both (although I haven't tried it with a heavy load). All in all, a nice daypack for the price.
