I am pretty small so I wanted a bag that wouldn't be too cumbersome but would still accommodate my macbook, textbooks, wallet, phone, etc. This bag is very compact and still fits all these items. It has been through rain and kept my stuff dry. I would like to see a bit more padding on the straps, however, even though the bag is quite comfortable. I would also prefer just a little more depth and height (ever so slightly)-also, if I take something out the bag topples frontward, which is annoying (the base isn't flat), but worth it because the bag is shaped nicely for my physique and still carries all I need mostly comfortably.

Porsche Design P3120 Ballpoint Pen (Black EditionI) Review

(More customer reviews)I have been intrigued by the fact that these Porsche Design ballpoints can take Parker gel refills, which I like very much. Try these refills. They are great. As soon as I got my aluminum color pen, I inserted the Parker gel refill into the P3120, and it fits perfectly. The pen is quite a bit larger than most ballpoints but it fits into my hand like a glove and writes very well. I like the heft of the pen and its grooves near the tip of the pen are functional and give me a very reassuring and comfortable grip as I write. This pen is made out of solid aluminum, much like a Macbook Pro. The pen exudes quality like no other, and it also has a unique look befitting of the Porsche name. I like this pen a lot. It may not be a pen that some will want to take with in a shirt pocket everywhere or daily, but as a desktop pen or a pen carried in a laptop bag or a padfolio, it is perfect.

Belle Hop Personal Safety Alarm Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased two belle hop personal safety alarms as Christmas presents. They are small and compact, and the strap mechanism that turns on the alarm is very simple. Even in an emergency, it would be very easy to activate the alarm.
On the downside, it is not very loud. It you are planning on using it to scare away an attacker, and are envisioning a piercing, overwhelming blast of noise (as I was for some reason), forget it. It's loud enough to provide some shock value I suppose, but at a distance of more than a few feet, it sounds like a distant alarm clock...not something that would really attract attention. Thus, I wouldn't recommend this product.

Pacsafe Stashsafe 200 Anti-Theft Hip Pack, Black Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this for a trip to SE Asia but have used it this year in a trip to Europe. It survived attempts to fleece me by two packs of pickpocket teams in Barcelona, one on the subway and a second on the street -- who knows if there were other attempts I didn't know about. So I'd say it is a comforting product to have.
7/9/2010: Used during one month trip through Mexico and Guatemala. At end of trip I was using at to hold my Canon G11 compact instead of hauling an additional camera pouch.
Although the pack allows you to use a keyed lock to attach the steel cable that runs through the waistband, I have been using a carabiner that allows me to quickly remove the pouch in airports yet securely connects the waistband cables.

Safe Skies Rubberized BoomerangIt TSA Luggage Lock Review

Pacsafe Luggage Toursafe Sling Backpack Review

I used it on a trip to the UK and I was able to hold in an organized fashion a raincoat, a compact umbrella, a couple of guide books, maps, as well as my wallet, passport, and letter size printouts (note that the corners of letter-sized documents do bend a little). It has inside pockets which make it convenient for organizing things, for example passports, boarding passes, mints, lipstick, etc. Also, it has two small hidden pockets on the outside that are very convenient for keeping things handy such as tickets, metro cards, memo notebook, a pen, etc. The security feature that prevents the bag to be opened, although simple, seems to work well for the most part; sometimes it gets twisted and it is hard to open, but in general it works well. I also liked that the zipper can be covered by a flap, providing extra peace of mind. One thing that I didn't like too much was that the inside of the bag was purple! In addition, some of the metal strings of the strap started to stick out by the end of the trip. I am just hoping it lasts because it was an expensive bag...
Bottom line: if you want a proper-sized bag with lots of carrying and organizing capacity that you can use in crowded places without worries, this bag is for you.

Pacsafe Venturesafe 20L Day Pack Review

(More customer reviews)I used this pack for a 10-day trip to Germany. I felt that my personal items were very secure. The fabric is supposed to be slash proof. I assume it is , but I can't say for sure, as no one tried to slash my bag (thankfully!) This pack has 2 compartments: the main compartment and a front pocket. Both compartments zip up to close. When closed, the zipper pulls (which are some type of metal wire) can be clipped to the bag. This would make it VERY difficult for someone to unzip your bag without you knowing. Also, when closed, the zippers are hidden (under fabric or mesh), so presumably a would-be-thief wouldn't see them right away. After you zip/close the main compartment, there are 2 straps that can be closed over the zipper on each side, so even if a thief began to unzip this bag, the straps would stop the zipper's progress. There is also a chest strap that you can close so no one can pull this pack off of your body. There are 2 outside mesh pockets on each side of the pack for water bottles, etc. This was very convenient. The shoulder straps and chest strap can be adjusted.
The main thing I did not like about this bag is that there are no additional inside compartments. It would be nice to have at least one or two separate pockets inside the main body of this bag. Most "normal" or "regular" backpacks have this. Without one, everything is jumbled together inside the bag (wallet, camera, hair brush, umbrella, maps, travel books, flyers, passports, chapstick, sunscreen, first-aide kit, etc.) This makes it unnecessarily difficult to find things. Another negative is that if you want to "clip" the main compartment zipper for safety, it can only be done at the bottom of one side of the pack. It would be a nice added feature to be able to clip the zipper pulls at the top center of the bag and at the other side, as well.
This back pack was smaller than I had thought (It is smaller than the average school backpack) - but it is a good travel size for travel.
Overall, I am happy with my purchase. I would have liked some additional internal pockets, but it was OK as it is. This back pack was lightweight. The black color is nondescript. I recommend this bag, although there might be a better model available.

(More customer reviews)I bought this bag for a recent trip to Italy - my first international trip - because I was concerned about petty theft. I had heard all kinds of stories from experienced travelers about pickpockets and thieves, and I specifically bought this bag for its security features. I can't say for sure how effective the security features are (how does one measure that?), but having this bag definitely put me at ease, and I had no problems with theft during my two-week trip (and I was in some pickpocket-heavy places). The larger, main pocket is great for items like notebooks or magazines (which I always carry, as a writer-grad student), with enough room for my travel journal, netbook and travel guides; the front pocket is perfect for keeping smaller things, like keys, camera and cash convenient. I kept my passport folio and credit cards in the "hidden pocket" in the back, which is deep enough that you can essentially keep these things "buried", and then I kept my daily spending cash in a little interior pocket in the front compartment. The water bottle pocket on the side was big enough to hold a full liter-size bottle (essential if you're in Italy in the summer), and - amazingly enough - even when the water bottle was wet from condensation or from filling, while the outside of the bag became wet, my items inside stayed perfectly dry. This bag even proved useful as an overnight bag on a trip to Venice - it was big enough to hold all my regular stuff, plus a set of clothes and toiletries for the next day.
