(More customer reviews)I've just returned from a trip to Japan and the Briggs & Riley BRX Expedition 28" Rolling Duffel has been great; well made, perfect size, semi-collapsible for storage.
Like all the Briggs & Riley bags I've seen and used, the rollers are well made, the external handle is sturdy, the stitching is substantial, and the lifetime warranty ensures the bag will be useful for many, many years.
It's the largest size bag that I can fully pack while staying under airline max weight limits. It's almost too big. When packing the bag with non-perishable food items and dense clothing for the trip here, I was technically 1 kg over the weight limit. For the return trip, I moved the most dense items to a smaller bag and was well under the limit. For me, this duffel is the perfect companion for a mid-size bag (my other main suitcase is a Biggs and Riley Baseline 21" Carry-On Expandable Upright U421X). I use my smaller 21" for most domestic trips and pull out the Duffel (or both) for more substantial travel.
For storage, the internal side supports can fold down and the bag squashes down to about half it's height (in the laying position). For me, the bag provides a nice balance of structural support for protection of my stuff, with a bit of squash-ability for storage. For what it's worth, I visited a local LA retailer that sells Briggs & Riley and their in-stock Expedition 28" rolling duffel did not feature the fold-down internal flaps. Perhaps this feature was added recently.
All in all, I love this bag!
