Works great, same as everybody used in High School, except this one has a key override for when you come into work after a drunken bender & forget your combination. The key is NOT included with the lock, so make sure to get "Master Lock 1525K-V638 Control Key for 1525-V638 Padlock (Override Key)" to go with.

I bought this excellent lock for a pistol case, and it alway performed beautifully. I borrowed it to use for my suitcase when flying cross-country, and was able to use it in fairly low light.
Unfortunately, it was not on my suitcase when I received my bags at my destination. I can't imagine this lock ever breaking, so I can only surmise that someone in TSA liked it so much that they decided to take it for themselves! It's a rather backhanded endorsement, but I definitely plan to buy PeliLocks again.

Master Lock 647D Set-Your-Own Combination Luggage Lock, 1-3/16-Inch Review

(More customer reviews)These locks are great. They are very secure for the size. THEY DO CHANGE COMBINATION PROPERLY and easily. It makes me mad when someone bad mouths a good product due to insufficient understanding. I bought (3) of these already and they set no problem; the other reviewer was not following the correct procedure. To be fair, the manufacturer instructions leave out the detail that you have to press down very firmly after the first rotation.
To set a new combo:
Turn it to 0 0 0,
Turn shackle 90 degrees CCW,
Push shackle down FIRMLY and hold down (it feels like there are 2 positions, you must press firmly to the 2nd "deeper" position)
Rotate 90 degrees CCW WHILE HOLDING DOWN ALL THE WAY (you will have the shackle 180 degrees CCW from where you started),
Change lock combo,
Rotate shackle CW 90 degrees,
Lift shackle,
Rotate shackle CW 90 degrees and use.
