(More customer reviews)Laptop protectors range from the basic $10 sleeve up to the haute couture. This bag is on the more basic end: the typical and ubiquitous black nylon laptop bag. Style and fashion is sacrificed for basic function.
Functionally, it's got some plusses. An outside zipper compartment holds miscellaneous items such as your boarding pass and mobile phone. Another functional plus is the orange interior compartment that makes it easy to find your accessories for your laptop in low light. Divided mess cages in both the inner and outer compartment make it easy to bring your laptop and other small adapters and dongles. This laptop is not checkpoint friendly, but will probably be able to slip under your seat on the plane.
As a laptop protector, this bag does a poor job. In the main compartment that holds the laptop, the padding is approximately 3/4 of an inch thick and only protects the front and back of the laptop. No padding is included in the corners, which is a common impact point. Moreover, there is no structural support in the bag to prevent it getting crushed against other items. This bag is only slightly better than a purse or standard backup.
For the price, the bag is a decent value. However, if your laptop is valuable and you are concerned about damage, you might seek more protection.
