I researched high and low to find the PERFECT backpack for some college classes that would accommadate my 17' Dell laptop and a few books. After reading reviews (obviously on other websites), I chose this beauty. I am a fan of Columbia winter wear, so I didn't think I could go wrong with their backpacks, but folks...no matter what they say it WILL NOT fit a 17' laptop (NOT EVEN CLOSE!) More like 15.6'. Even though I'm dissapointed that my laptop didn't fit, I'm still keeping it. As far as laptop backpacks go, it is on the small side. I would say 2 textbooks and one laptop with a few accesories MAX. If you have a 15.6' laptop, I would recommend it. The cushion is perfect and is positioned 2 inches from the bottom of the bag, so your laptop won't touch the bottom of the bag or the floor for that matter. Its got about 6 little pockets in the main comparment. The straps are comfortable with a laptop and couple of textbooks it in. Hope this review helps!
