Eagle Creek Dual Wattage International Convertor Set Review

Eagle Creek Dual Wattage International Convertor Set

Used for travel in China starting in Beijing and finishing in Hong Kong. When it takes an adapter on the voltage converter, the weight of the converter is a challenge on a loose outlet. I had to prop up the converter several times so it wouldn't loose electrical connection or even fall out of the outlet. I don't think any other brand converter would have worked any better. I also had another product that was a plastic block that contained several plug configurations that would pop out of the block. It didn't work with some outlets, mainly the slanted plug (Australian type).

Samsonite Adaptor Plug - Australia, New Zealand, Fiji Review

Samsonite Adaptor Plug - Australia, New Zealand, Fiji

The notes from the manufacturer on the Amazon page say you get 4 plugs plus a nylon travel pouch for your $10. In fact, what was in the package that just arrived was just one plug and no travel pouch. The plug looks like a good one, but we feel we were very much mislead by the product description.

Universal Travel Adapter Plug Kit Review

Universal Travel Adapter Plug Kit

I travel a fair bit but seem to often misplace my adapters, so this is maybe my fourth set in recent years.
These are nice and lightweight and will adapt your two-prong US outlets to the European/Asian round two pins, as well as the UK big ol' three prongs, and the Australian slanted prongs. The fourth piece seems to be to US two prongs and appears to work from European round prongs, but not Australian slanted prongs.
When I travel, I also carry the US three-prong to two-prong adapter for my computer. The way these are designed, a US three-prong will also fit into them, which possibly means you don't need the extra piece. That might be a safety hazard because it leaves the third prong exposed? I dunno. It might functionally be the same.
I was specifically looking for the US to European round prong adapter and don't often need the others, so I appreciate this set, which is affordable. It's also handy that it comes with a little bag to store things in.
Remember that these are adapters, but not power converters. Your computer likely handles dual current; my camera battery charger and phone charge do as well. And that's all I take when I travel... but check your own electronics for the current; you might need a converter and not just an adapter.

Travel Accessories Samsonite 60 Watt Step Down Transformer Review

Travel Accessories Samsonite 60 Watt Step Down Transformer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Hi, I travel a lot, and recently, I've needed a transformer to deal with a couple of products that do not have variable voltage (e.g., baby monitor and baby monitor camera). I used this in Italy and Hungary, and it served its purpose (I've fried a voltage converter and AC adapter by not knowing the voltage wasn't variable in the past).
A couple of key points:
1. The plug is for European output only.
2. I found this very useful in conjunction with a monster cable travel power strip, so I could plug in multiple devices through this transformer.
3. As others have mentioned, it is heavy, but if you really need this, then it's still a lot better than buying a European/Asian AC adaptor or not bringing an applicance that you need to use.
I think we'll be using this quite a bit in the future.
One final note--you do not need this product if you're simply plugging in products like mobile phones, laptops, camera battery chargers as these products typically (you should check your own product to make sure) are able to operate across multiple voltages and therefore require a simple plug adaptor that doesn't have any transformer capabilities.

Travelon Worldwide Adapter and USB Charger Review

Travelon Worldwide Adapter and USB Charger
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As a frequent traveler, I ordered this item as a space- and weight-saving alternative to my trusty converter/adapter set. I received the item and promptly departed on a trip overseas. Thank goodness I took my old set as a back-up. The USB port on this item worked for a total of 1-2 minutes and hasn't worked since. I used it to adapt a european style outlet for my dual voltage laptop charger and after approximately five minutes, it began to hum and emit the odor of melting wires. Finally the fuse blew and I chucked the item in the bin. I would not recommend this product to anyone.
