It's big enough for my six year old to shove his games and toys in while we're out, but doesn't seem too big when only carrying the essentials. The fleece lined pocket holds my sunglasses so they're easy to find, without messing around with a case.
Carrying it on one shoulder caused me a lot of fatigue, so I adjusted the strap to go across my body with the bag at hip height. I think this is the perfect way to carry it, not only for comfort, but it rests against my body instead of hanging freely so I don't drop it or have it slide down my arm when carrying other items.
