(More customer reviews)In preparation for several trips, it seemed a luggage scale would be a helpful "nice to have item" to avoid last second item switching at the baggage counter.
On a previous trip I came in at forty nine and a half pounds on two bags by pure dumb luck, but was sweating it out all the way to the airport, as there was only so many ways to pack a couple of really nice Koa wood boards to be used for building ukeleles.
The Heys eScale I purchased here is slightly different than the pictures shown here, as it came with a webbing strap and side release plastic buckle completing a loop, instead of the pictured hook. While a hook may be somewhat more convenient to use, I think the strap may allow more compact storage. So that change is satisfactory for me. However I have no clue as to what the current design is (hook or loop)
I tested the eScale against an electronic bathroom scale with several items ranging from twenty to sixty pounds, and found the eScale to be within a tenth of a pound in each case.
The design of the eScale is quite functional as it comfortably allows the use of either one or both hands to lift the baggage. Also note that when I weighed the web loop eScale itself on a small electronic scale, it came in at 4.37 ounces, for lightweight packing.
I cannot attest to the durability or the longevity of the eScale, but I suspect as with most things, results may vary depending on use/abuse etc.
Edit to add
Just returned from overseas with all the usual acquired extras and the scale performed perfectly. Initial packing showed one suitcase 50.5# a few seconds of redistributing and all is well. Airport scale agreed exactly with final reading.
