(More customer reviews)I purchased the Travelpro Crew 8 Carry-On rolling Garment Bag in 2010. I travel every week for my job and refuse to check a bag at the airport. I researched carry-on rolling bags extensively and based on feedback from other people; I purchased this item. I do like a few features of this bag. My dress shirts are never wrinkled when I arrive to my destination; there is adequate room for 3-4 changes of clothes, undergarments, workout clothes, etc; and the wheels are very solid; even when rolling through wet conditions; snow, thick carpet, etc. The bag fits nicely in an overhead airplane bin; if the plane is a 737 or bigger; and A-300 or bigger; or even a CRJ 900. If you are on a regional jet like a CRJ 700 or smaller, you will still have to gate-check the bag. For those of you who travel a lot, that isn't ideal as it usually takes 10-15 minutes after you de-plane to get your gate-checked bag.
Now for the reasons I wouldn't purchase this item again or recommend this bag to anyone I know; first, the zippers are flimsy and come apart frequently. If you have a full load in the bag, it is dang near impossible to even zip the bag shut. The outer pockets of the bag (which I felt would be ideal for my toiletries that are 3.4z or less) is the worst. If you put anything in the outer storage pockets of the bag the zipper will split. That is very frustrating; especially for a bag that cost close to $200.
The handle is very, very flimsy. After just two trips, the handle is very difficult to consolidate back into the bag and to extend to full length. I was told the Crew 8 bag would be more sturdy than it's predecessor; the Crew 7. If anything, it is worse. For a frequent flier; that is unacceptable. I give this bag a 2 out of 5 star ranking. I would not recommend purchasing this item.
